About Cafe Buen Dia

Let me introduce you to Cafe Buen Dia, a laid-back cafe tucked right into the heart of San Miguel de Allende, where mornings stretch a little longer and coffee feels like part of the local rhythm. Sitting along Hidalgo 42 in the historic Zona Centro, this spot blends naturally into the neighborhood, making it easy to wander in whether you’re exploring nearby streets or looking for a familiar place to settle in. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, very much a true cafe atmosphere, where conversations flow easily and the pace invites you to slow down. Cafe Buen Dia is the kind of place where you can enjoy a simple coffee break, grab a quick bite between plans, or sit down and share small plates without feeling rushed. Outdoor seating is a popular choice, especially on pleasant days, while dine-in offers a cozy setting that feels casual rather than curated. If you’re on the move, takeaway options make it convenient to enjoy their coffee while continuing your walk through town. The menu keeps things approachable, focusing on coffee that pairs well with light food options, which makes it a natural stop at almost any time of day. What stands out most is how Cafe Buen Dia fits seamlessly into daily life here, appealing to locals and visitors alike without trying too hard. It’s not about flashy presentation or overcomplicated choices, but about creating a comfortable place where quality and simplicity meet. Whether you’re starting your morning, taking a midday pause, or easing into an afternoon break, Cafe Buen Dia offers an easygoing experience that feels genuine, familiar, and perfectly suited to its central San Miguel de Allende location. Because the setting is unpretentious, it’s easy to drop in solo with a laptop, meet a friend for a casual chat, or simply watch the street activity drift by from your seat.

Charming cafe offering a nice variety of breakfast/brunch options. We had the green chilaquiles, pan danes, and pancakes. Everything was delightful! They also brought out some warm bread with butter and a fresh guayaba spread. The matcha latte was perfect, and the café americano had complimentary refills.

Nice restaurant in a courtyard with umbrellas for shade. The atmosphere is very nice especially with nice weather. Unfortunately my Eggs Benedict were not as good as they could of been. Coffee was decent. Clean bathrooms.

The are many expresso machines in SMA. Most restaurants and cafes make in my opinion mediocre coffee drinks that are either frilly, watery or too much milk. This is the best place I’ve found for cappuccinos and lattes for my wife. For food I would give them 3.5 stars. Service 5 stars. The orange juice was fresh squeezed, sweet and delicious; the mushroom omelette good but not outstanding, the potatoes were undercooked. I believe the bread is made on site and very good, but should have been served with jam or marmalade and not just butter. Highly recommend for the drinks.

Great atmosphere! Carlos makes amazing lattes. The food was just ok... small portions. Popular place amongst expats.

Great breakfast breakfast restaurant, so cozy and their patio it’s so cute. Just be aware it’s cash only a price a little bid over their topically Mexican breakfast rest. Hubby got Mexican eggs and I got French toast both good tasty.

The courtyard is very well done with its retractable roof. The coffee was large and good. The food was under par. Go for drinks and enjoy the space.

Have not tried the food here, but their freshly squeezed green juice is health itself! The old style colonial interior patio is well shaded with giant umbrellas so it’s pleasant even under the harsh midday sun. Nice place for a juice break . Friendly, attentive service.
